My husband and I are looking forward to going on our first cruise to Alaska on the Ryndam in September. I had planned to wear pant suits/outfits for the formal/informal dining nights and was told by my cruise consultant that this would be perfectly acceptable Can anyone tell me if others do this or will I look out of place?
Thanks for your suggestions!
For formal nights, pantsuits are perfectly acceptable, but they should be dressy. You don't need sequins or spangles, but it should be something you might consider wearing to a wedding or other such event. For the informal nights, they don't need to be quite so dressy. You'll find there's quite a variety of dress on the formal nights, from "Sunday best" to long gowns.
You can certainly get away with a pantsuit. Just dress it up a bit for formal nights with a beautiful blouse underneath, or a nice silk scarf, or a fancy piece of jewelery, or a pair of nice high heeled shoes. I found for "informal" nights that a pair of dress pants with a nice blouse was perfect. I usually just dressed up the top with a pretty scarf or pashmina. Actually, by the end of a 21 day cruise, people were commenting to me on all different ways I managed to wear my scarves!
