I'm thinking of booking SY5001 on the Oosterdam for an Alaska cruise next June. Will there be a problem with this verandah suite on the bow? Would the mid-ship ones be better? My husband and I have never been sea sick and enjoy the motion of the ships we have been on (even when the motion sickness bags have been put out). Any advice would be appreciated.
Every sailing will differ of course. I just returned from Alaska Aug 17th. The sailing was as smooth as glass. You indicate you don't have problems with motion so I see no reason why that suite wouldn't be a good choice.
SY5001 looks like an absolutely perfect stateroom for an Alaska cruise, with its side verandah AND forward-facing floor-to-ceiling window; your field of view will be unbelievable.
Two othe reasons I like the cabins farthest forward: more privacy on your verandah; and less chance of smoke wafting into your cabin from a neighbor--the wind usually blows the smoke towards the stern. Oh yes, and you only have a neighbor on one side. And hardly anybody uses the forward facing balcony--so it's like having two private verandahs.
