I know this question has been asked many times but would like answered in regard to Holland America. I would like to know if you can take one small bottle of bourbon and some wine (50th anniversay celebration) on board? Will also be buying some.

Hi lectric, and welcome to cruise-chat.

Presently, HAL permits pax to bring only wine and champagne onboard (and applies a $15 corkage fee for the above in the dining room and bars). So, yes to the wine, no to the bourbon.

bkmw, I took a quick glance through Princess' passage contract, and they seem to have the same policy as HAL. There's some additional information in this thread on the Princess board.

You can order a bottle of whatever you drink (Bombay Sapphire in my case) from ship's services to be delivered to your stateroom and waiting for you when you arrive along with mixers. Ice and limes or lemons will have to be ordered by you from your steward or room service. That way, you can enjoy a cocktail on your veranda while dressing for dinner (or anytime for that matter)!

quick question, sounds like you can order liquor from On-board store and have in your room when you arrive. Is that correct? I had thought you could purchase liquor on-board but HAL would hold until you disembarked. thanks.

You can either order it before you leave via the 800 number for "ships services" and it should be waiting in your stateroom OR you can order it from room service after you are aboard. Either way, the price is the same. $37 for a bottle of Bombay Sapphire. Then we just ordered tonic and limes as needed from room service. You can keep the sliced limes in the mini-frig.

The On-board, duty-free store won't sell you any liquor for consumption on board.
