Hello Everyone,
I noticed that HAL says you can bring on wine or champagne and it appears there is no limit (whereas some other cruise lines limit you to 2). I just wanted to check on this - has anyone tried to bring on say, a whole case? (...if I am going with a group on a longer cruise...) Do they allow this?
Thanks!
Bee

HAL does not limit the amount of wine you can bring. Lisa recently updated our Cruise Line Alcohol FAQ. The HAL link describes the policy.

From what I've read elsewhere, HAL doesn't care about wine amounts. Showing up with a case is apparently okay.

Thanks Dave,
I saw the policy post in the FAQ but just wondered if anyone had tried it and if they actually allow it. Thanks for responding - I appreciate it!

I also see HAL has reduced price liquor packages for cabin consumption. All in all they have a nice reasonable policy. It is no doubt based on the demographic for their clientele, which is largely different from RCI or Carnival.

Yes, I see what you mean. I am surprised Celebrity doesn't have policies similar to HAL. What's your take on that? Thanks again.

Celebrity does attract more younger people than HAL. But I suspect the Celebrity policy is based on their being owned by Royal Caribbean - both the same. Carnival seems to be maintaining the hands-off promises they made (at least most of them) as they acquired other lines, leaving each line to determine policy.

Why is this HAL policy limited to wine? It seems like if my beverage of choice is vodka that I should be able to bring that aboard also. I'm not a wine consumer.

BTW, I included a liter of vodka in my luggage last year on a HAL cruise to Alaska and had no problem.

Since the original question has been answered this thread is now closed. The policy of cruise-chat is to provide the official rules for alcohol.
