Cartagena
We are considering a Panama Canal cruise in April (HAL SD-Ft. Lauderdale). Most of the port stops are on the Pacific leg and it looks like Cartagena, Columbia is the only stop between PC and Ft. L.
I'd like any feedback about Catragena and any excursions or "can't miss" suggestions. |
I've been twice. Took the "Best Of . . ." tour one time and the "Walking Tour of Old Cartegena" the other. Loved them both. Take plenty of water on the walking tour; the heat and humidity are brutal.

We took the "Best of...." tour, too. Very interesting and a good way to learn about the city. It has a fascinating history.
I would recommend booking an excursion sponsored by the ship. There are parts of the city that might not be safe if you venture off on your own. Nadine |
Very sound advice from Nadine.

I recalled that a movie from a number of years ago, Romancing the Stone, had something to do with Cartagena,so a few days ago we checked it out of the local public library. DW and I watched it closely noting the beauty of the countryside and the quaintness of Cartagena. It looked like a nice place to visit for a day.
You can imagine our surprise that the end credits said that the filming was done it Mexico not Columbia! I seldom view the credits in a flick but I wanted to confirm that it was shot on location. It was, but wrong location! We ill have to settle on website info until we roll into C-city in late March. |
