Holland America Announces "Stateroom Direct" Service
I hope the other lines will follow suit. HAL has announced that all cabins will be immediately available to passengers boarding for new cruises. No more waiting around to early afternoon for cabins to be opened.

I would love it. However if it means they won't let passengers board until all cabins are ready...maybe not such a good trade off.
There is only so much cleaning time. I am more than willing to leave my cabin early so they can get it cleaned, but it still takes time.

We are getting ready to book a HAL cruise hope it works that way.

This sounds familiar. I believe that this is what we were told when we signed up for the 14-day Spring-winter Panama Canal cruise. Hope it's true as we are arriving in SD around 11AM and are planning lunch @ the Lido on March 18.

Hi MickeyD,

I did the Statendam last Sept to the Panama Canal...WONDERFUL trip....The ship had come down from Vancouver and was ready to board at 11 (or sooner if you got there)....Off on the Oosterdam in October for the 14 day Hawaii cruise....Happy Sailing thru the Canal....

We've always been able to go directly to our cabin when leaving on Princess out of L.A., boarding usually about 11:30--although the "official" boarding time is 1:00 p.m.

We were surprised on our recent Disney cruise when we were told the cabins wouldn't be ready until 2:00 p.m.

We're just spoiled.

All times are GMT -7. The time now is 06:01 PM.
