On a previous Caribbean cruise with CARNIVAL, we found the offered excursions either not our style (petting sting rays) or too expensive (for a retired couple). We found a "relatively" cheap way to fill the days in port by searching out local "luxury" hotels and paying a "day use" fee (around 10=>15 USD). We're now booked on a Mediteranean cruise with HOLLAND AMERICA and in certain ports (DUPROVNIK, KUSADASI, SANTORINI, and CORFU) we hope to be doing our touring in the morning and relaxing on a beach/in a swimming pool in the afternoon (if feasable). Does anyone have any recommend hotels that do this in the indicated ports?
P.S. Always bring your ship's "beach" towel as some hotels do not provide with the day use fee.

Hi englishblackrainbow, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise! That's a great way to spend an enjoyable afternoon. Unfortunately, I have not been on your itinerary, so cannot help with names of hotels. I did, however, want to welcome you to our board. Just doing a google search on luxury hotels, Dubrovnik, brought up Dubrovnik Palace, Bellevue, Kazbek, Excelsior, and others. For Kusadasi the Marriot, Ritz Carlton, Adakule, Aqua Fantasy, Fantasia Delux, Grand Blue Sky and others. For Santorini Adronis, Vedema, and others. And for Corfu Kontokali Bay, Iberostar, Dassia, Four Seasons, Louis Corcyra or Grand, and others.

I am also a big fan of going to a nice hotel and using their facilities. I would pack a personal beach towel for this, and then your cruise towel doesn't scream "cruiser." But it is nice to have a clean towel each day. On a recent cruise islanders laughed about cruisers leaving their cruise towels on the islands, and according to cruise line prices they have almost a million dollars worth of towels. Penny gives good advice, I also check Trip Advisor to see what folks think of their pool areas. Have lots of fun englishblackrainbow.
