Default Canada/New England, here we come... again!
Made final payment on our upcoming C/NE cruise on Veendam and it could not come soon enough! We're looking forward to returning to our favorite haunts in the Canadian Maritimes. Sure, we could drive there, but why drive when we could cruise!

Has anyone from this forum been on Veendam lately? Any tips since her reconfiguration? This will be our third S-class ship... my favorite class, yet I don't know yet what I will think of the replacement of the aft swimming pool with a wading pool.

Also, does anyone know if it is still required to order from the vegetarian menu the night before? That was a bit of an inconvenience a couple of years ago.

I've been looking around at various sites and there is not a lot of love for The Retreat on Veendam.

We're going on the NE/Canadian cruise in August. I've just been reading reviews on msVeendam, and I'm very nervous at how negative they are. We've cruised on Carnival and Royal Caribbean, and had overall positive experiences. The main reason for joining this forum is to get advise on renting a car at the ports. The excursions all seem very expensive, and it seems that the most common complaint is that there isn't enough time at each stop. I've looked at renting a car, and can do so for much less. And we've be on our own schedule. Any feedback you can give would be greatly appreciated.
