I just heard that Art Linkletter passed away today, aged 97. I always liked him. House Party was a great show. I am too young to remember People Are Funny.

Many don't know that he was Canadian by birth - born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He was put up for adoption and his new family migrated to California when Art was 7.

I always liked him, too. I thought he was like everyone's uncle, just like Walt Disney and Walter Cronkite.

I can still sing the theme for "People Are Funny." Age has its privileges!

Oh, NO! I LOVED "People Are Funny". I am so sad to hear of his passing. I was hoping for 110.

So sorry to hear it; Art brought me many happy hours of wholesome entertainment. I too remember and loved "People Are Funny" and "Kids Say the Darndest Things."

Wholesome entertainment...what a wasteland TV is today. The shows used to be so wonderful. Great singing, dancing, skits, comedy. Mr. Linkletter's shows. Jackie Gleason (American Scene Magazine!). Ed Sullivan Show. Carol Burnett Show. Red Skelton Show. Perry Como Show. Andy Williams. I can go on and on. All clean shows with great entertainment.

I miss those old shows too. Kids Say the Darndest Things always made me laugh. He will be missed.

I also remember watching Art and Alan Funt together. I don't remember whether it was a series or if they were just doing Candid Camera together.

I don't know why TV has become such garbage. Have we, as a nation, really changed that much?

There are some hilarious clips of "Kids..." on YouTube, like this one hosted by Bill Cosby. Just get past the loud clock ticking up to 12 at the beginning.

This is another lovely clip. It's just 3 minutes long; be sure to watch to the very end.

That was a wonderful clip. A brilliant tribute, really. Bill Cosby is another favorite of mine too.
