Thank you Marsha. That's a sweet, uplifting story.

Our daughter is really a strong young woman. Much stronger than her Mom! She is doing well and is, in fact, dating again. She has met a man who has a daughter only a year younger than our grandson. Since both are only children, the kids are enjoying sharing every other weekend with each other. Maybe this will all work out and we will have a new granddaughter!!

3rd Peter I, I haven't heard Memere since I left Rhode Island...that is always what I called my Grandmother. A lot of my family came from Montreal. My fathers mother didn't speak English only French. Thanks for the great memories and this Christmas will be Meat Pies,
we always called them Pork pies, funny they had no pork in them..it was ground beef and potaotes, lots of chopped onion and celery and bell seasoning

Here is one recipe for toutiere, or meat pie, a Quebec specialty.

I love this type of food. I'd probably eat 3 or 4 servings before taking a deep breath.

I have a cast iron kettle, and venison too, but i think I will use my dutch oven and make your meat pies. they sound great.
