Anyone here use a Geotagger to tag your Photos?
What it does is add the data to the exif of the photo, Then with GoogleEarth you can see right where the photo was taken.
After going thru box after box after... (well you get the point) of old family photos I can see where it would be nice to know where a photo was taken.

Yea you could take your standard picture of your feet from the aft of the ship, and know exactly where you were when you took it.

You have to have a GPS data logger. They usually are about the size of a lighter. You need to sync it with your camera so the time is the same. Then as you are cruising Glacier Bay and shooting pictures, the logger is recording your trip. You think down load the photos and the geo data and it tags your photos with the information of where you were.
I do not have one yet, but am doing some homework to figure out what I need. There is one that also has a voice recorder builtin. Would be nice to be able to record the name of the glacier you are shootin, pen and paper are a pain at times like that.

At the bottom of the page there is a Google Map view. Click on it and you can see where this person took the photos.

Sounds complicated from what I read. I looked at the GoogleMaps link, that was really cool. I don't know how well the Caribbean is mapped. Usually when I try to find something in the GoogleMap in the Caribbean, it can't find it. I'll bet in a little while, the GPS part will be built into the cameras.

Some camera are almost there Penny. My big problem seems to be with the Adobe software I use... What a surprise.....

I absolutely abhor Adobe. I'd like to meet some of their programmers in person so I could tell them that they're right up there with Bill Gates when it comes to marketing garbage.
