The Ike only has one bow projection, current pics of the Nimitz show she has none (I seem to remember the Nimitz having two bow projections but I may be thinking of the Vinson.) I was stationed on Ike in 84-85.
I can just picture my grandfather reading that article and screaming "Hell in a handbasket, I tell you!!!". He was one of those Marines who would attempt to separate your head from your torso if you called him an ex-Marine. He almost disowned my father when he enlisted with the Army.
Back to the matter at hand... if we introduce these ragamuffin wannabe pirates to a little "shock and awe" we would probably see them go into hiding quicker than Punxsutawney Phil. Why does the world community put up with this type of nonsense?? We should send out a few decoy ships that look vulnerable but man them with coalition troops. Let them get close and then reduce them to chum for the denizens of the deep. Really, it is that simple. These idiot bandits are nothing more than cowards who intimidate vessels that are not properly armed. (of course, in my honest opinion, any vessel that ventures into the Aden Sea without some form of self protection should expect to be boarded and held for ransom) These people are thugs of the worst nature and should not be given mainstream television coverage. They should be eliminated before Greenpeace gets a chance to come out there and run interference for them.
