A while back there was a thread about cooking cutlery. Belk had Cuisinart and Heinkles on sale. I bought the Cuisinart. Are they about the same? I liked the one I bought because I got an extra pair of scissors. I just hope they'll be better than the knives I have, which are no name, but have held their edge for a good while. Even going through the dishwasher, which I know is a no-no.

Hi Penny,
I am also in the market to buy new knives. Hubby has expressed an interest in having some good quality knives so I will be interested to see what everyone has to say on the subject. My friend has a set of Heinkles and loves them. Look forward to any advice.

Kyocera ceramic... will never go back to metal

A ceramic knife? I've really, honestly, never heard of that. How does it keep it's edge?

I just like good old fashioned knives that you can sharpen. I have a couple of Onieda chef knives that are like this and will slice meat and vegetables well.

Where do you buy these ceramic knives? I've never heard of them either.

You can get ceramic knives at many online cooking stores. Kyocera is a big brand. The thing with them is ceramic is harder than steel so they really never need sharpening.
