A JetBlue flight attendant lost control today after arguing with a passenger about removing luggage from the overhead bin. After the confrontation the FA activated the emergency slide and exited the airplane, ran across the tarmac and entered the terminal, grabbed a shuttle bus to the employee parking lot and drove home.
The airport police have taken him in for questioning, and I think it safe to say he is fired. Probably wasn't a good choice to take in this economy.
From what I understand from this article, I thought he quit. Either way he probably now is no longer working for Jet Blue, and after that incident, will probably be lucky if he gets a job with another airline.

Now he has a mix of felony and misdemeanor charges. He also took that airplane out of service for at least a day I'd think. So he also impacted passengers who were going to use that airplane on later flights, and screwed up JetBlue's schedule.
And in today's sad excuse for a culture, people have opened Facebook pages in support of this guy and are lauding him as a folk hero.
Very poor choice of actions on his part. The better route would have been to claim he was attacked by the passenger (since apparently the passenger was unapologetic for hitting him with the luggage) and have TSA arrest him. At least he would still have a job... but it sounds like he was a french fry short of a Happy Meal to begin with...

I see so many people supporting the FA on various news websites. I wonder if they'd feel the same if they were waiting to board that airplane, and suddenly were told the next flight was cancelled because the airplane was out of service.
I know what you mean about the plane being taken out of service, and screwing up the flights for the rest of that day, and possibly the next few days. We've all had to deal with flight delays I'm sure.
My home airport is Newark Liberty International Airport, and on at least 2 occasions, my outbound flight was delayed, because the incoming flight was late due to weather, air traffic (congestion), etc. Both of these times it was not for a cruise, for the record.
Those of you in the New York / New Jersey area probably know how bad Newark gets, or for that matter, JFK, or La Guardia.
