Montreal dinner cruise

Your very welcome Peter.I proposed to my wife in the revolving restaraunt in Montreal in 1976.I remember the food being cold because the kitchen was in the basement.I to have very fond memories of expo67,I was 10 years old and spent my entire summer showing our out of town guests the site.I knew where everything was! I learned a lot that year. You stayed at the Sheraton Mont Royal hotel,Do you remember the Kon-Tiki restaraunt,My mom used to take me there for lunch,they would make me these fancy juice drinks with umberellas in them! A big deal when your a kid.. Sadly the hotel is no more.the metro does run under what is called Les Courts Montreal( some nice shops).If you ever decide to visit,send me a private e-mail. It would be my pleasure to show you around.

Merci Bruce; thank you ! We both trace our roots back to Canada and have visited many times to both Montreal and Quebec and also have a great time. When we were there on our honeymoon, we stayed on Longueil as I remember in a prefab motel that was expensive. There were very little accomodations to find that would have us as near; we made the best of it. On our way home we stayed in one of the most expensive hotels we could find and it was less that a night at the Worlds Fair motel. We cherished the time there after all, we were honeymooners.
And yes, the Kon-Tiki does ring a bell. The Metro was one of the cleanist subways we have ever been on.

I live in Longueil (Greenfieldpark)within walking distance from Tashereau Blvd.Was it The Nation Motel by any chance? PS. I am english but do speak french too!!

Oh Bruce, so long ago ! I do believe that the motels that were there were constructed only for the World's Fair and I don't know if they were destined to be there after?

I am French but don't speak it; my wife did as a child and retains the ability to converse somewhat.

When I go to Montreal the first cruise I take is up St. Lawrence Blvd. for a real Montreal smoked meat sandwich at Schwartz

Next time your here try next door to schwartz.A little Portuqise restaurant called CoCo-Rico-The best roast pork sandwich.Spicy chicken sandwich and carrot-raison salade- or go across the street to the Main-deli,latkas-blintzes-Smoked turkey on an ognion roll! Or try a St.Viater bagel right out of the wood oven!!!
Beauties for breakfast.Walenskies for a club roll! This city has everything!

I think I've done most of those except for the pork roll sandwhich - my Rabbi wouldn't approve.

My son lives in Montreal so I hope to enjoy all of those places and more.

I miss the Brown Derby which I believe is no more

My Aunt once worked at the brown derby! Where does your son live (what area) I can suggest some good deli's nearby!
