I just purchased 30 lbs of live Maine Lobster at a supermarket here on the CT shoreline for $3.99/lb., They steamed them too - did we ever have a holiday feast!!!
Great price!!
We go to visit my sister in Boston, and friends on the Cape every Spring or Summer, and the cheapest we've paid was $2.99 a lbs last November when my niece got married....
They are usually around $4.99 a lbs, but much more expensive on the Cape....
So much easier when they steam them for you....

Thanks! Most appropriate in a metaphoric way.
When I can afford them I have them steamed too at the store. My mom once told me I was being cruel to steam them live. So I lie to her when I take Blue Crabs I catch and steam live out to her and dad. I say they came that way.
It's really strange that lobster is less expensive than steak. In fact, most seafood is less expensive now. I have to wait for hamburger (ground round) to go on sale to buy it. It normally runs around $4.49/lb., and will go on sale for $3.79 to $3.99/lb.
Actually, $8.99/lb. is a good price for here. The fall foliage is one thing I miss about living in (S.W.) Virginia. The mountains were beautiful this time of year.
Penny, "I ain't" paying $3.99 for ground round..I hope! I wait till it's $1.99 or less and stock the freezer up.
