$82.00, OMG, that is horrible. Gary, you're going to have to raise prices. I know it's tough because if you raise them too much, people can't pay. Dwayne, your pet sitter has the right idea, but unfortunately I think the high prices are here to stay. Sure wish I could ride a bike to work.
Murphy's Kings Rd. Myrtle Beach $3.55. That is the cheapest today. I was surprised on my recent trip to Raleigh NC that the price increased .15 to .20 as soon as you went across the border to NC. The same truck that delivers gas across the border delivers gas here. So that must be additional taxes at the pump is all I can figure.
When we take a trip I usually use the Gas Buddy Trip calculator. It seems to come out pretty close. My only problem is, the calculator runs your tank dry. I never run that lost. I use the option to enter my own car data. I make our tank smaller. It works out better on my bladder also
We are getting ready to head to Southern California. Have to go online and transfer money first . Well at least we have enough to transfer.
The price of gas is really going to put a damper on our economy. Unfortunately for me, my oldest daughter just turned 16 and got her permanent driver's license and she can't drive my Mustang with the stick shift, so she only drives my Ford Expedition which gets about 11 mpg in town. Last week cost me an extra $50 just for her to have fun.
Today, we are driving over to Pensacola Beach for a day trip. We live about 124 miles away and the gas alone is going to cost me at least $70. OUCH!!! I won't even mention gas for my boat which cruises at around 3 mpg.
The sad thing is that it is merely speculation that is driving most of this. I remember the good old days when I was in Desert Storm over in Saudi Arabia and gas was 9 cents per liter (that is less than 36 cents per gallon). Gary...at those prices you could fill your truck for under $10.
I can remember gas wars, full service gas stations, stamps or gifts with fill-ups, and buying $.50 of gas. I filled up this morning, it seems to be holding around $3.81/gal.
My Mom has a box with some old stamps. I thing she has 3 or 4 kinds. She also has some old ration stamps. I had some "MPC" when I returned from Nam, she put that in there also.
Last weekend we went to the Corona area (Southern Ca). We usually take the 138 and come in on the 15. On the 138 we saw $4.48 a gallon. I filled up a couple of times, $4.07 and $4.21. Crazy.
The Governor of Indiana is suggesting a temporary suspension of the $0.40 state gasoline tax. Any bit would definitely help. Our price today was $3.89.
