I agree that this has gone on way too long, cost way too much money, and needs to be dealt with swiftly. I am worried about those still captive by the pirates. We only were able to rescue one captain (which I'm glad we did) but there are so many more in captivity. We need to take them out!

Paul Motter's Blog today is about having firearms available to cruise ship security personnel. Now I know we've all seen some overzealous ship's security people - Barney Fife wannabe's in some cases - but I think it is a good idea provided the users are carefully screened and trained, and the guns are kept under tight control.

Actually, I'd like to see the pirates eliminated. They know where they hang, a search and seizure for all ships leaving the coast line could be done. They have to get fuel somewhere, so cut off that supply. Yes, a good defense is the best offense, but not sure that I want anyone except military using it.

Well...I see the captured pirate has made his way to the Big Apple. "Boy from quaint African village hits the Big City!" Quite a change from the coast of Somalia. Too bad his tour won't include lunch at the Carnegie Deli, a Broadway show, and cocktails and dinner at The Rainbow Room.

Oh well, hope springs eternal. After we totally screw up the case against him he will probably be released, given restitution payments, and granted immediate citizenship.

First, they will fly his entire family here, first class, of course. Put them all up in a nice hotel. Then after the case is dismissed, they'll be our newest millionaires from the book deals and tv mini-series.

After he is released from custody he'll receive an interest free special incentive small business loan and open up a high speed small boat marina in Miami!
