It probably is a turn-off for some people but I am one who likes marmelade, jam, or jelly on my sausage biscuits. Actually on steak or ham biscuits too. People outside the south laugh but it actually has a basis in the European practices of serving sweet sauces or fruit with meats and pates.
I like marmalades such as those from the UK which are not overly sweet. My favorites are the Frank Cooper brand. Duerr's is good too. They have a nice balance of sweet/tart taste that I like. However, lately I've been indulging in their strawberry conserve. Conserve...there's a word not often heard. It is wonderful on a biscuit with a sausage patty that has a nice sage flavor to it. The orange marmalade goes well with a slice of ham on a biscuit.
For me it's usually 2 Eggo Homestyle waffles with syrup and a Starbucks bottled Frappuccino (coffee flavor). At home I'm not usually a huge breakfast eater, but that can change on a cruise.
