I was scheduled to go in to work at Browns Ferry (nuclear plant) that night at 6pm. I obviously couldn't sleep all day and was wondering what to expect that night. Was I headed to another target? I got there and security was quite tight. Checkpoints before I got close. The whole shift crew walking around all night (we worked 12 hour shifts) and not saying much. Very much an indelible memory.
Another one is when JFK was shot, and then Oswald. I was in the 2nd grade and the principal came over the loudspeaker to announce it. I recall teachers crying in the hallway. They then closed school until after Thanksgiving and I was sitting at home watching TV and saw Ruby kill Oswald. The reality of it didn't really sink in since was only 7.
