How about the USC football. As most of you know I am not a USC fan. I am an OU fan. It is one thing to hit USC with all the Forfeits and bans. I think Pete a Reggie need to be hit in the pocket book. They were part of it. They helped cripple a program.
I really do not understand the Big 12 breakup. OU and Texas and others moving to the Pac 10, soon to be the Pac 16. Some how I do not see Texas and OU playing for the Pac 16 Championship in the Rose Bowl http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...s/icon_eek.gif

I don't know much about college sports, but the sanctions seem a bit excessive; I know rules are rules, but gee, none of the guys playing now had anything to do with the infractions. Am I off base here?

I am not sure there is a good fix. The Junior and Senior have a chance to "jump ship" and go to another system. The lower class men do not. However the new recruits should have seen this coming. When OU got hit at the end of the Switzer years, they were also banned from TV for 2 or 3 years.
That is one reason I feel that Pete Carroll Reggie Bush and other that were involve show get some pretty heavy penalties also.

Thanks Gary. I guess it bothers me too that it took so long to reach a decision; did this really need to be investigated for four years? It didn't seem that complicated.

I had a feeling something was about to break loose when Pete Carroll suddenly left for the NFL.

I've had issues with the NCAA for years. They are inconsistent and some of the rules are ridiculous.

I don't understand the breakup of the Big12 and Pac10 either. I know it's all politics and money, but geesh. Recruiting, pay-offs, "scholarships", it's all pretty crooked. Then we have the NFL-where everyone bends the rules and money is the only thing that matters. It's such a pity, I love football.

Well the Big 12/10 was saved for now...
And given the fact that SMU was clobbered with sanctions 20 yrs back when none of the people on the team had anything to do with it, I think USC got off lightly....the NCAA is famous for a double standard with the big programs (Michigan and the Ed Martin payoff scandal is one example)...
