Penny, I think the Raceway at I-65 and 72 is sitting at $2.98 today for regular.
I love my new VW but the gas price for 93 octane is not a lot of fun! My daily work drive is 40 miles round trip. Of course, at Browns Ferry there are not a lot of options for going out to lunch so I don't have to even think about it. But I am down to about 30 work days left until I retire!
My F-150 had a 36 gallon tank. I don't think they knew that when I traded it in. I didn't tell them. They have already sold it, and I am sure the new owner got a rude surprise when he did his/her first fill up!
I usually use the high test as well. I have a 92 Nissan NX that still gets 46 mpg, but it has 160,000 miles on it. Just not safe in the traffic around here. I do use the Raceway a lot, but hate trying to get out of there!
Just filled up at my Costco today. Luckily, it is only about 1.5 miles away. Regular was $2.86, and premium was $3.06. We live in north Phoenix. Lil' Lori
I spoke too soon. Our $2.96 went to $3.05 today. My 2000 Volvo manual says to use premium fuel too. I called the service dept. and asked if this was neccesary. The supervisor told me no. I put 5 gallons of regular in it, and within 6 miles the check engine light came on!
So now I have to drive to the dealership and have this checked.
Dave, Congrats on the 30 days. It is truly a blessing to be able to retire at your age. Knowing you, I bet you will be getting into something else after a rest.
Dwayne, you do know the guy you talked to in the Service Dept that said it's fine gets paid for fixing it when the check engine light comes on, right? Just teasin, good luck with the car.
Also, Dave congats as well on your upcomig retirement.
Just wanted to wish Dave Good Luck on your forth coming retirement more cruises coming up,
Tony has just got a moped for work due to price of petrol but the train links just don't work where we live so we just have to carrying on moaning about the cost of petrol and being envious of what you guys pay.
Wish I could ride a moped, sure would save on the pocket book. Congrats as well, Dave, sure wish I could say that. I'm still playing the lottery, that's my retirement plan!
Dwayne- I sent you a PM... check your gas cap. A check engine light coming on after filling up is most likely a loose cap.
And for the record, gas is $2.81 today. Was up to $2.89 so it came down a little. The stinking news people keep making statements about how "gas will most likely go up another $0.20 soon"... I wish they would stop that because it only gives the gas companies ideas and excuses...

Jim, I got the PM and I thank you. It may have been the problem. I gave the cap an extra turn before I started the car and the light did not come on. The cap did turn a little more. Plus the car had been sitting for 2 weeks on a nearly empty tank before I put the regular gas in. I love European cars, I just hate taking them to the Dr. $$

Jim, you can't give the oil companies any ideas, or excuses to raise the price of gasoline; they already have thought of every angle. Gas is $3.19 a gallon for regular here. It's been this high for the past two weeks. Have you heard any good news lately???
