thank you for your good thoughts. We had a mandatory evacuation order Monday night, and left our home in San Diego and headed north to Dana Pt. We were unable to get a hotel room for that night, but friends already there in the Dana Pt. Holiday Inn insisted we stay with them. (We had earlier made a tues reservation thinking we weere safe til then, but when we hurriedly left Monday night at 8 PM there were no rooms anywhere out of the smoke area. Anyway, we are safely and thankfully home after a rather scary ride back Wed. morning when we had a mile or two stretch past Camp Pendleton where we were 50 or 60 feet from the flames.

You will be happy to know that f-mattox is ok

I think its terrible that some of these fires are thought to be started by arsonists.It's also sad to think that some people have worked their socks off to have a nice home to live in ...only to have it burnt down and then have personal things that cannot be replaced also destroyed

Ellie, thank you so much for checking in. I am sorry to learn of your ordeal, yet at the same time thankful that you and your family (and your home) are alright. You are also fortunate to have such good and caring friends. I hope all is well with them, too.

My thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy, and I also continue to pray for the safety of the firefighters.

I do hope they catch whomever did this horrible thing. It's so sad to see all of the waste, not only homes but all the country side. Heavens only knows how many lives have been lost, not only human. I heard it's over a billion dollars worth of damage to homes. I don't know how many thousands of acres have burned. I am so thankful to hear from a few members from out there that they are safe. My prayers are with all of our southern California members, as well as all of those living through this nightmare. Best wishes and all of my prayers!
