Yes, those of you in Canada, Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. For those in the US, as you know, it's not until November 28th. Canada's Thanksgiving is tomorrow, October 14th.

As a Brit from across the pond I always thought that your thanksgiving was a special day for families to spend time together. It seems a change is underway.

With Black Friday seeming to have caught on in such a big way it seems that some of your major stores have decided to open even earlier.

Maceys are apparently going to open all day on thanksgiving Thursday
Walmart, Sears, Target, Toys R Us & Kmart are opening up either in the afternoon or early evening.

Seems a shame that retail workers will now have to leave their families a bit earlier & have to go to work on thanksgiving

Just a sign of the times I guess.

For a few years now, Wal-Mart and some others have opened at midnight or in the early morning hours. I don't understand the obsession some have with going out at that time of night to fight others over sale items. For at least 15 years I've waited on the day after Thanksgiving for the first report of a fist fight breaking out over the last heavily discounted TV set on the sales floor.

It's crazy. It's a primary reason I do most of my shopping online these days. About the only thing I go shopping for in a brick and mortar store is jewelry.

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to my neighbors to the North. We have actually spent a Thanksgiving in Canada years ago. We booked a weekend in Quebec not knowing at the time that it was their Holiday. We have been back many times, when our children were younger to both Montreal and Quebec. The only thing we will not do is attend the winter carnival as its cold enough without heading more north than we already are.

Enjoy the day.
