If there's anyone out there that may think cartoon shows aren't educational, they may want to think again. I heard this story on the radio this morning going to work. After the player loads, click the play button to watch the story.
From what I understand, the choir teacher told a joke, which appeared to be one of those "roll on the floor laughing" jokes. This caused one student to swallow her gum, and start choking. Another student, and her friend, remembering an episode of "SpongeBob," (of all shows) performed the Heimlich maneuver. |
Those of you that may not have a high speed connection, here is a link without the video of the same story.

I saw that on one of the news reports. That is so amazing. Especially considering it was Sponge Bob http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif I don't remember Yogi Bear, Quick Draw McGraw, or Huckleberry Hound teaching us much of anything except for maybe how to treat others. And that was only once in a while.

Supposedly Miriam (the friend who performed the maneuver) said she had no idea what she was doing until it was done. Also, I'm not sure why she even asked Allyson (who was choking) if she was choking, because she apparently had her hands around her neck, which to me, is a visual sign to others that you are choking.

Since I get up at a ridiculous time in the morning (3:30am) I watch the World News Now, and it was on there.
