Southwest airlines has bought Airtran today!! no more baggage fees are coming soon.. We have always wanted Southwest here but the monster Delta Airlines would not alow it buy negotating with the city of Atlanta,now Delta cant stop this one.. Airtran in Atlanta is the 2nd largest airline here in the World busiest airport.. That will be a huge savings.. I heard that this morning. I'm hoping Huntsville will finally get Southwest as AirTran is offering a few flights from Huntsville now. It would be sweet to get a direct from Huntsville to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami without paying an arm and a leg!

It wont be a direct flight.. Atlanta will be a hub for southwest for connecting flights...

Well I am glad it helps all of you but it doesn't do anything for us in the Dallas area. Due to politics, Southwest can't have any non stop flights from their Dallas airport (they have to stop in a neighboring state) AND since Airtran operated out of DFW airport, Southwest will have to give up those gates or give up equal numbers of gates at Dallas/Love field. Which they already have said they won't do. So those flights to Orlando from DFW that were cheap because American had to compete with Airtran will now get much more expensive...

Even if they fly out of Love, they can't fly direct? I know I flew SWA out of Love to Ft. Lauderdale, but don't remember stopping anywhere.
