Sing Along With Mitch was a successful NBC show in the early to mid 1960s. "Just follow the bouncing ball." Many consider Mitch to be the father of karaoke.

Mitch Miller passed away over the weekend at age 99.

I used to love the way he conducted, with elbows out and bent at his sides and the conducting going on from the elbows down, while keeping the elbows out.

He certainly was an icon in the popular music world.

Dang it, I'd love to have seen him hit 100! I watched him all the time. I also saw that Jack Tatum passed away.

"Sing Along With Mitch"--what a great show! We have a 33rpm record as well as a CD of his music.

That show and "Your Hit Parade" bring back fond memories. RIP Mitch.

I loved "Your Hit Parade." When my parents were out on Saturday evenings, I always had a fight with my brother, who wanted to watch "Sea Hunt" at the same time I wanted to watch "Your Hit Parade." Eventually, I became a "Sea Hunt" fan. Matter of survival?

Sea Hunt probably did more to promote scuba diving than any other show, advertising, etc. I still remember Lloyd Bridges opening the show, sitting on the boat, giving a preview of that night's show..."tonight, on Sea Hunt".

I also remember thinking Mitch Miller was cool because of his facial hair. It was a fun show, like so many of that era. You didn't have to have an opinion, a political bent, an ideology, an agenda. All you needed to enjoy the shows was to want to have some light entertainment. We used to be able to escape for an hour with shows back then, and not have to have an attitude or judge others.

Sing Along With Mitch. American Bandstand. The Jackie Gleason Show. Your Hit Parade. I sure do miss them all.

Dave, I couldn't agree with you more about Sea Hunt, and I love all the other shows too. I grew up on American Bandstand. Plus I really miss Dragnet.

And as unrealistic as it was...I gotta believe THE LOVE BOAT did alot to promote the cruise industry. Don't you wish the rooms actually DID look like that?

Can't wait to head to Mobile and head out on Elation. Been way too long.
