We're going to the IRL races in Birmingham this weekend. We've had beautiful weather but, the races are coming and guess what...we're going to have rain and colder temperatures.

I sure hope this cold front moves out like they have predicted and we have sunny weather for the races.

I bought some under armor, so I should be able to stay warm. But the cars can't race if the track is wet, so I need everyone in Alabama to do a sun dance.

Anyone else going to go to Barber to see the races?

Not going, to much of a drive from New England for the weekend but we all here will join in a sunshine dance with warmer temps your way..We have had great extended weather and today is just georgeous with temps in the hi 60's to low 70's just like Easter weekend was. Enjoy the races.

I can't make it this year. I hope the race returns though because the Barber facility is excellent. F1 officials even toured the track to see if it was viable for them. As usual, F1 probably wanted too many changes.

My sun dances often backfire. Not sure if will help coming from over here in SC, but I'll do one for you!

Now come soon though, we need some rain to wash this pollen away over here. Or, I'm going to be in Zyrtec City.

I think it's heading your way, Dwayne. It woke me up at 3:07am. At least I hope it will move out of here!

Some of it got here about a half hour ago. The thunder scared the cat so he took refuge behind the toilet in the hallway bathroom. Quite a light show going on over the ocean now with the lightning.

I hope y'all were able to watch them on TV. The weather was picture perfect, thank you Lord. The cars were amazingly fast. They had big screen tvs set up so every area on the track had a great view.

I hope they'll come back next year. I really enjoyed being there.

I thought the feud between Versus and DirecTV was still ongoing so I didn't bother to look at the directory. Had I done so I would have learned things got ironed out and DirecTV carries Versus again. So I missed the race.

I did read lots of driver comments about it being narrow and hard to pass in some spots.

The drivers I talked to said it was a very technical course. They said there needed to be more run-off areas, and they would have liked it wider. It looks like it's 4 lanes wide to me, maybe 5. There was a lot of passing where we sat, turns 12, 13, 14 (I think) right before the straight in front of pit road.

The Datona Prototypes must have passed the GT cars 50 times in that area. The IRL cars didn't pass as much. A few drivers tried to force the pass and ended up in the kitty litter. Only twice did I see anyone hit the air fences. I'd much rather have a race without cautions, and these had very few.
