As a first-time father to a daughter who turned 5 mos. yesterday, make sure that either parent is not overwhelmed. There are many parents out there with multiple children who think childcare is a breeze. First-time mommies and daddies can easily, speaking from experience, feel that they are barely treading water in a whirlpool of responsibility. Just be there for the new parents and offer them any support that is needed.

We have twelve, ranging in age from 5 months to 18 years. All but one lives within six miles of us. No special training is required be grand parents. Just spoil them rotten and then send 'em home!
