Warning labels

Okay so I hear on the news today warning labels are going to be required on hot dog. Is the person who does not know that you can choke on a hot dog going to be smart enough to read the label?

The nanny state will just not leave us alone; well, the bureaucrats have to justify all those gov't jobs somehow.

Is the warning label for just choking, or do they expand further with it? Like you could get mustard on your shirt.

No Dwayne, mustard stains are currently the object of a multi-million dollar gov't funded study; there will be another study in a few years on revising the warning label on hot dogs.

Actually it is the American Academy Of Pediatrics and they also want hot dogs to be redesigned. I am not trying to diminish the choking deaths that happen each year, but really, where do you draw the line on reasonability? Maybe we should pass a law where you have to be an adult to eat hot dogs, or else provide evidence that your throat is large enough to preclude choking on hot dogs. Ronald Reagan almost choked to death on a single peanut back in the late 1970's. Size of the object isn't the sole factor.

What would a hot dog that was reshaped for choke prevention look like? How about a slice of bologna?

That says it all; once you start down this path, there is no end to it.

This reminds me somewhat of a Seinfeld episode. Kramer turned his apartment into a smokers' lounge after meeting people on the street that got kicked out of the coffee shop for smoking, and his face became craggly and crinkly after experiencing a lifetime of smoking in 72 hours. He wants to sue the tobacco companies, and goes to see Jackie Chiles, his lawyer, and here's some dialogue:

Jackie: Did the cigarette warning label mention anything about damage to your appearance?

Kramer: No, it didn't say anything.

Jackie: So you're a victim. And now your face is sallow, unattractive, disgusting.

In part of that same episode, here's some dialogue between Jerry and Kramer.

Jerry: You've experienced a lifetime of smoking in 72 hours. What did you expect?

Kramer: Emphysema, birth defects, cancer, but not this!"

Peanuts are included in the items getting the warning labels. I wonder how many different languages they will be printed in.

I have no idea. There wasn't a warning label on the chicken coup when my mom sent me to get eggs when I was 4. It probably would have said "Get eggs at the risk of flogging".

I think my mom did the unusual approach and cut up my food when I was little. It must have worked since I am still breathing.
