I didn't read the story, yet. My guess before story is HAL since it is being loaded into Pan American Airlines.

Now I'll read the story and find out how wrong I am

Dang, I wasn't as far off as I thought I was. I can remember, and not that long ago, it was $100 for 1MB of memory.

I look at that huge drive in the one photo as it was being built and then consider the drive in my old iPod which holds 20GB and is 1.8" in size.

I can remember "upgrading" our computer. I bought a 20mb harddrive. Everyone told me I was crazy to put that much data on one drive. When it crashes you will lose everything was the cry.
this afternoon I am installing a couple 2TB drives in our computers.
You know on the camera forum, people still cry about using large CF or SD cards. Still the same old message, too many eggs in one basket.
BTW, on there last visit here my Grandkids found a couple 3.5 inch disk. The did not know what they were.
Yes Dave Ipods are amazing with the size of their storage. I just installed a radio in my work truck that lets me insert a SD card.
Times are changing.

Just checked my image files. I could not get one image on the old harddrive shown. a JPG takes up 7.1mb, a raw file is about 16mb. I guess that is why I am installing a couple 2 tb drives this afternoon.
