Dave,
Your January post regarding bbq with cole slaw reminded me of my first trip to Virginia where they serve sandwiches with the bbq pork on one side of the bun and the cole slaw on the other. I was shocked, being from Texas, I had never seen that before. I was hooked from that moment. Wife now cooks pork shoulder and we always have cole slaw. Each time we fly to Richmond, we have a special sandwich at a little diner. Now, for supper tonight, I am grilling super thick pork chops with sides of wild rice and esparagus...yummy! Betcha you never had that in the Marines! Wonder if they could package that in a MRE? Oohrah!

Anyone ever watch that Man vs. Food show? They make him eat some pretty incredible food.

Three shows that I like: Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern, and Man Vs. Food.

Rodney, that does sound yummy!

Next time you are going to grill the thick cut pork chops (my favorite), marinate them with Dale's seasoning and try it. Not recommended for low sodium diets though.

The only way I know to eat pork BBQ is on a bun with some slaw.

bbq with cole slaw
Back in 1966 we returned home to NY State after a short attempt at living in Miami. Money woes meant taking the bus. We stopped at the station in Columbia, SC, and decided to get a hot dog. Being from the north, cole slaw was just not something you'd find on a hot dog. So when the counter worker asked if we wanted slaw my mother said yes figuring we'd get little cups of cole slaw. My mom about keeled over when the hot dogs arrived with cole slaw on them. She just couldn't comprehend it and scraped it off. My brother and I were too ravenous to care and gulped them down. I loved it.
