I saw that on the news this morning, but really didn't believe it. It is amazing to me.

I know this guy who does things like that. He doesn't mean to, but he has done some incredible stuff.

Probably 20 years ago now - on the day of the annual Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn. He is in his yard cutting down a tree. It looked right, the cuts were such that the tree could only fall into the clearing.

It fell the other way and knocked down a power line and set the woods behind his house on fire. Three fire trucks had to be called. Being an amiable host, Henry was out with a tray of lemonade for the firefighters. Meanwhile Athens Utilities had to cut power to several hundred homes so they could fix the downed line, and so there you had the ultimate problem - a couple thousand people's TV sets went dark in the middle of the 1st quarter of the Iron Bowl.

I think he got anonymous threats for several months.

Wow, maybe defying the laws of physics / gravity?

That description reminds me of a Seinfeld episode with Keith Hernandez. Kramer and Newman think that he spit on them, and Jerry explains how the spit goes from Kramer to Newman, referencing the Kennedy assassination.

Here is a link. This is not me uploading the video, so don't complain to me saying it's bad quality. It gets funny at about 1:30 in.

This is old news, or at least the same old story. I wonder what good it does to lock her up if you are not going to keep her there?

speaking of bail money....
Have they said who paid the bail for the 'hiker/hostage' that was released from ****?
Not that the situation isn't a tragedy, but honestly...who goes hiking on the ****-Iraq border? How do three youngsters even wind up there? Do you just hop on a flight to Baghdad in th middle of a war?

But you raise a good point Marsha; what the heck were these kids doing on the border between two of the most dangerous regimes on Earth? Hiking? Really?

It's the same with these people who get jailed because they "strayed" across the border into North Korea. Anyone stupid enough to play little games with dangerous nations are asking for trouble. I really don't have much sympathy for them. It's like wandering around the bad part of town wearing a Rolex and flashing a wad of cash - and acting surprised if you get mugged.
