I haven't been in this type of weather in a while...welcome to the deep south.

NWS forecast for the Huntsville area: Thursday Night...Mostly clear and very cold. Lows 5 to 10 above zero. North winds 10 to 15 mph. Wind chill readings 6 below to 4 above zero.

But then I guess that sounds balmy to those of you in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

While out West we are having a heat wave; Santa Ana, just minutes from Costa Mesa, was the hottest place in the nation yesterday: 90 degrees.

Dave, that's cold even for us! Although it's not so common, we'll be seeing those same temperatures, or perhaps a few degrees lower, in the next couple of days. Be sure to dress in layers and wear a hat.

We get something like this every 8-10 years. Unfortunately it usually is accompanied by a major ice storm a month or so later.

Lows 5 to 10 Wow! That is very unusual for your area. If you have any outside irrigation you better drain it. The last time that happened here everything burst. They have us for lows of 25. Hopefully the ground will stay warm enough to prevent any freezing of the lines.

Stay warm!

It's all part of Al Gore's global warming. Next, we will have poor polar bears stranded on ice sheets in the Caribbean.*

Then why mention a political type person?

I did try to change it a little later, Dwayne, but I must have been just outside the edit time window. I was attempting to remove the name.

Ice sheets in the Caribbean may actually give me a reason to go down there again. As many of you know, I do not enjoy the hot weather.

Remind me of that from tomorrow through Saturday when we are in the single digits (Fahrenheit) here.
