Rules for bringing liquor on Board??

Going on cruise next month...
We want to bring a couple of bottles of wine on board with us (not to worry, we'll still spend plenty at the bar)...mainly cause we want our own (not sure if they'll have it), and cause we want convenience of not having to go through room service.
Is there any way around the rules? Do they x-ray every bag, for heaven's sake??
