What to pack for January Hawaiian Cruises

This is our first cruise ever and we have no idea what to pack. We are sailing on Jaunary 4th. We know bathing suits are a must, but what do we wear on the islands? Coming from Ohio it is hard to imagine wearing summer clothing. I don't want to pack too much of the things we won't need and not enough of what we will.

Did you book through a travel agent? If so, he/she can help answer your questions about what to take, etc. You will definitely need summer clothing for Hawaii! I'd suggest wearing layers when you leave (sweater/sweatshirt, jacket, etc.) so you can peel those off when you get to tropical Hawaii, and add them when you return home. (Keep them in a carryon bag for your trip home - pack the heaviest items on top of the suitcase so you can get them out after you claim your bags on the return, and won't freeze on the way back to the car!)

Believe it or not, Hawaii can get chilly in January (like into the 60s). Be sure to pack some rain stuff just in case as well. You guys will have a great cruise!
