I noticed that NCL is no longer offering any intineraries out of NYC to Florida, Bahamas, or the Caribbean during the summer of 2009. Strange, because they have been sailing out of there for years ... does anyone know why?
So many cruise lines pull their ships out of the Caribbean in the summer, I would imagine that's the story with NCL from New York. Cruise lines send their ships to Alaska, Europe, Asia, and elsewhere in the summer season, from April through September or October. There is another cruise line that has zero ships in the Caribbean in summer.
The Bermuda itinerary is always popular. Bermuda limits the number of ships that can call there, so those cruise lines that win a slot stick with that itinerary. That one is also a seasonal itinerary.
Donlyn- I believe NCL will be sending the Gem to the Bahamas in Feb thru Apr. 2009 as well as Feb thru Apr 2010- It is a seasonal itinerary out of NYC. Additionally, Carnival will be sending the Brand New Dream to the Bahamas out of Red Hook in Nov. 2009.
