I just read this from Maritime Matters. This is EXACTLY what NCL wanted. So over this company.

NuCruiser2,
and with NCL's US-flagged operations still not working well and with Star Cruises generating more and more losses, the "Big U" will be next! http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...s/icon_mad.gif |

The Big U will be VERY tough to get rid of that easy.
NCL/America was a good concept. However, the reason why it isn't doing very well is because of BAD Management. Otherwise, the division would be making a profit. As for the Big U, NCL sould have re-fit the ship as a floating 5-Star Hotel in NYC, as well as a Hotel Academy to train its workers and let Cornell University's Hotel School run the ship's operations. This would have turned out better for the company. Too bad that good things are run by incompetent leaders. Also, the Big U is NOT owned by NCL. They are only leasing the ship from the Cantor Estate. |
