We are crusing April 1 on the Spirit. My son likes sushi and I was wonder if anyone found it to be safe to eat. I know its raw fish etc.. ( i don't eat it so I am not sure what it is!) and I was wondering how fresh it is and if anyone has ever gotten sick from it?
I have never been on a NCL ship but I feel absolutely confident that anything served on a major cruise line ship would be safe to eat. There would be no more chance of an unpleasant episode than in any fine restaurant on land; probably less.
Have been on several NCL ships. The Sushi is indeed very fresh and expertly prepped. The Sushi bars are open in the evening only. Usually during the day (afternoons) you can stop by the Sushi and find the sushi chefs preparing the fish, shrimp etc for the evening. Everything is kept cold and I am sure that if you son is a sushi eater, he will be well pleased. Typical cost for the Sushi Bar is $15.00 for all you can eat. Enjoy. The atmosphere, cuisine and sushi chefs are very colorful.
We love sushi and have had it on ships...no problems to report. BTW, there are varieties of sushi that do not contain raw fish, if you'd like to give it a try without being too adventuresome!
Just got off the Spirit 3/10 - I did not have the Sushi but I will say the area was PACKED every night... Maybe Spring breakers - maybe not - but defenitly a BIG hit.
