I will be cruising on the Jewel (sister ship of the Dawn)in Nov. I have not been on NCL since the mid-90s, prior to personal choice. What restaurants would you recommend? Is it best to reserve the week's worth of dinners on the first day of the cruise?

Also, does anyone know how the children's age groups are split up? My daughter will be 8.

I found most of the alternative dining spots to be quite good, but from previous NCL cruises - I can highly recommend LeBistro, Cagney's Steakhouse and the Soho Room. You will not be able to make reservations for the entire week - they only take reservations 24 hours in advance.

The Kids Crew is divided into 4 groups: Junior Sailors (2-5), First Mates (6-8) and Navigators (9-12) and Teens (13-17). However, depending on numbers of children onboard they often combine the First Mates and Navigators.
