We have never been on the NCL cruise line. We have been on Carnival only. We enjoyed our cruise with them very much but it was too much of a party all the time. Is NCL this way or is it laid back some.

I believed you'll find NCL far more casual than Carnival. Otherwise, you'll find the same activities and shore excursions for booking.

Was on the Jewel in January sailing from Miami. The Jewell is a beautiful ship and had a mini-suite on Deck 11 right off the back of the ship. The ship is awesome, with great restuarants. Try the Japanese Tepanaki. It's a great show. Had a bad steak at Cagney's and after voicing our opinion, they were quick to order anything I wanted. Great showroom for evening shows. THe Italian resturant was very good, and main dining room great. Blue Lagoon for quick fish and chips, burgers, and try the mexican/latin rest. The martini clinic was lots of fun for the $15 fee. Nice sized casino, and the bars are all great. We had a great time. I am sure you will enjoy "freestyle cruising". Be sure to select your favorite restuarnts and be sure to make reservations on formal nights otherwise you may be disappointed in the wait. The upstairs buffet is very good, and yo will find that many items served in the dining rooms are offered on the buffet. We have sailed with NCL many times, and find NCL offers great cruises at a value price.

Wondering about the buffet on the Jewel. We were on the Sun a couple of years ago, and while the food was very good on the buffet, it seemed a little repetitious. Also how many of the restaurants have an additional fee. Also did you think the Blue Lagoon was a good place to just get appetizers?

The ship is awesome, with great restuarants. Try the Japanese Teppanyaki (Cover Charge). It's a great show. Teppanyaki, Cagney's, Le Bistro have extra cover charges...eat early 5:00PM-6:00PM for a 2 for 1 discount. Buffet is excellent and many times, items from main dining rooms are on the Buffet. Suggest you research the restaurants, and make reservations, otherwise, even though there are electronic boards to show seating availabilty, you might have to wait. Bon Apetite.
