Billybuzzy, I am so sorry to hear of your problems, but very glad to hear you will be sailing on the Epic next year.

I have over 600 emails to respond to at work and things piled high on my desk, but wanted to stop by and let everyone know what an epic adventure the Epic was. She's a 1.2 billion dollar magnificent ship, as long as the Oasis, but 6' less wide. There have been tons of negative posts about the bathroom, but the concept is wonderful. The only things I had against it were: you got water on the floor when you showered and it was cold getting out of the shower. Yes, you could see shadows through the enclosures, but not details. I truly believe they were designed that way so more light could get into the toilet and shower areas. The lip on the sink kept water from splashing out on the floor.

The cabin was very nice, the balcony had plenty of room, the ammenities were great, and plenty of storage. Every time I looked, I seemed to find another hidden drawer or storage space.

I had no trouble with my reservations for any of the shows. I had reserved them all on-line before we sailed. Every event, we handed them our sea pass and walked right in. The entertainment was extraordinary. We did Blue Man, Cirque, Second City, Legends, and the Murder Mystery. The Second City troupe did the murder mystery and they were great. They change out Legends, but our trio were Rod Stewart, Brittney Spears, and Michael Jackson. The Rod Stewart double could have actually been his twin. I really enjoyed Blue Man, they didn't get as wild as they do on land, but it was well worth going.

We sailed at near capacity, just about 50 shy. There were very few lines and everything moved very quickly. We did 2 excursions through the ship. A catamaran sail/snorkel in Costa Maya and Tabyana Beach in Roatan. Both were well worth the charge. The snorkel in Costa Maya was the highlight, absolutely beautiful. We snorkeled the same reef that is in Belize, the reef covers 4 countries and is second only to the great barrier reef. The catamaran was clean, great crew, they sent out leads with each group of snorkelers and had a rubber boat in the water in case someone got tired. There was a pretty good current, but if I could swim it, most anyone could

Tabyana was beautiful. It included a bar-b-que lunch. There looked like some great snorkeling areas, but the sea was really choppy that day. I didn't even try it as a storm was blowing in and it was a little nippy for me. Ok, it was 80 something, but still the wind was blowing strong and it was really cloudy.

We rented a scooter in Cozumel and tooled around the island.

We put the future cruise deposit down and received a $100 obc. You have 4 years to use it. Don't yet know which cruise it will be on, but sure hope it will be on the Epic. What a fabulous ship.

Once I get caught up, I'll post a review and pictures. Oh, by the way, the sticky buns were great and so was the Key Lime pie!

Great review, Penny. It does sound like you had a wonderful time. Is the Epic your new favorite ship?

Good luck with all the catch-up.

Hi Penny,

It was great to read about your Epic trip. I'll be on the Epic next summer in the Mediterranean and can't wait. I'm glad to hear that the entertainment and things went smoothly. I'm hoping to book them ahead of time as well. Thanks for your information.

Penny, Is it safe to assume you didn't try the Ice Bar?

Great comments Penny! The ship and shows sound exciting. Sticky Bun withdrawals? I had them for a week.

I am definitely having sticky bun withdrawal! I did not try the ice bar because I didn't want to pay $20 to go into 17 degrees, I can do that at home for free I was hoping Ron would go in and get a couple of pictures, but he didn't want any part of it either. I wish I could have found someone to volunteer to take a picture for me. There are only 17 ice bars in the world.

The Sea Princess is still my favorite ship, but the Epic is totally amazing. She rides very smoothly as well. We did have a few patches of 6-8' seas, but you didn't even rock. She still looks like she's wearing a hat, but she grows on you.

I was surprised though, usually NCL ships are very light and airy with bright colors. The interior was dark compared to the other ships I've been on. Dark wood, subdued colors, more of an older maritime look. But the $983K chandalier was breath-taking.

Really? I've never seen sticky buns on the Carnival ships like the ones on NCL. Celebrity has wonderful ones too.

Penny, At least you would have gotten two drinks with your $20 and you get to wear a faux fur coat. Exciting news this week that NCL is coming out with two new ships in 2013/2014. Slightly smaller than Epic. One really liked about the Epic was the way the casino was so spread out. Also like the way O'Sheehan's circled the atrium. Great place to sit and people watch, or watch whatever they're showing on the big Wii screen. I also liked the big open area around the shops. Did you spend time up at the Posh area? I liked that area for the quietness. I guess you might say there was a lot I liked about the Epic!
