We're looking to sail her in South America next year. I know it's an older ship, but can't find a review on it. Anyone out there been on her?

Sue the Norwegian Crown is now the Crown Odyssey (Orient Lines). Check that name/cruise line for reviews. NCL plans to remodel her for freestyle dining in the fall, then she will sail as part of the NCL fleet.

My family, friends and I sailed on the Norwegian Crown 08/98- from Ny-Bermuda. She is a nice -mid sized ship with a touch of elegance. She holds alittle over 1,000 passengers. We had an outside cabin w/ picture window which was about 167 sq feet.

The ship has a nice(average sized) main pool and a great indoor (lowest deck) Roman style freshwater pool as well. Several hot tubs surround each pool if my memory serves me well.

Food in main dining room was good-very good and service was mostly good-perhaps alittle slow.

Food in the buffet room was good as well.

The Crown has a nice cinema showing recent films.

Show rooms were on the small/outdated size and shows were average at best.

Overall we had a very nice cruise. The ship is classy and mid sized. We ran into a hurricane on the way home, back to Ny and ship handled it well although our friends and half the passengers didnot.

On a scale of 1-10 I would rate ....

The ship 8
The main dining room food 8
The buffet 7
The service/cabin 9
The service /dining room 8
The entertainment 6.5
Overall cruise experience= 8
Do I recommend her? Yes
Please note: Mid sized ships are a totally different experince from a Mega sized ship. It has it's advantages and disadvantages.I've been on The Sky Princess, carnival Imagination and The Norwegian Crown and am booked on The Carnival Victory this summer and The Norwegian Dawn 4/04. I've enjoyed every cruise and feel certain you will too. Hope this helped
