We're weighing Norwegian Dawn vs. Celebrity Summit for a possible Bermuda cruise in September. Any thoughts from anyone who's been on these ships? Thanks!

I have done both, so I would say that I prefer the Summit. Why? I felt the food was a lot better in the Main dinning room. The Cabins are very different and I had a C1 on the Summit in the very back of the ship and it was awesome.
I felt the cabin was much nicer. I will say that NCL did stay in Bermuda 3 days that was a plus. Not sure what you are looking at on the Summit but we stopped in Newport, RI a plus for me and Boston for me was a plus also. I felt the Summit was about 2 steps above Dawn and this is just 1 person's opinion.

It depends what you're looking at for your cruise.
These two cruise lines fall into two different categories. Celebrity is premium and NCL is mass market/main stream. They cater to different demographics. The ships themselves are similar in size. Celebrity has a more refined quieter atmosphere, limited announcements (which is one trait I like about them). You'll find less children on Celebrity, but they do have children's programs. NCL will be a livelier atmosphere and on an average a younger passenger mix than Celebrity.
As for the service and food I feel both cruise lines are good. Personally, I give the edge to Celebrity. But food and service is very subjective on any cruise line, based on people's personal taste.
You may want to talk to a travel agent who specializes in cruises and can help you decide which cruise line matches your life style better.

I'm dying to try Celebrity, but we ended up going with NCL just due to the price. I love NCL but I think I'm going to have to do a different line for our next cruise, because there are only so many White Hot Parties you can go to! Ha!

I'm with you, Cortney, I'd love to try all of the cruise lines. Just need the wining lottery numbers

i'm looking at a 13 night Celebrity summit cruise to bermuda, and southern caribbean (6 diff islands) in oct of this year, it's $898 but it's only a one way cruise though...this is my first time looking at cruise deals so i'm not sure what else to look for, like hidden fees...or how much am I expecting to pay extra on top of the $898...for getting off the boat...eating on board...etc...anyone can give me some hints?

Hi mathalways, welcome to Cruise-Chat! The port fees might be extra or they may be included in that price. Any alcoholic beverage will be extra. Tipping, if you choose, will be extra. They add auto-tips on to your account, but those can be adjusted up or down. There are extra fee restaurants, but you do not have to eat there. All your food in the dining room, buffet area, and room service is included. Your casino is extra, and your excursions are extra. It sounds like you're looking at a fantastic cruise, with a great price.

Completely differant cruise lines. No comparison. The food and service in the MDR is much on X. The coices in the no charge resturants and buffet are much better on NCL.The freestyle is really laid back. The x style is more formal like old time cruising. It depends on what you want.

What is MDR? Are you saying the food and service in the paying restaurants on Celebrity are much better or worse?

"The food and service in the MDR is much on X"

I do believe vietvet is saying, "Main Dinning ROOM" is better on X meaning Celebrity.
