Congratulations.......on the bridge tour and the Garden Villa.
When we sailed the NCL Pearl to Alaska
(May20th,2007) we were part of a group of 12 that was privately invited unto the bridge while entering Glacier Bay. It was quite the experience. We spent about 2 1/2 hours on the bridge. It was great to see how the ships Captain worked so close with the pilot to navigate the icebergs and glaciers. The bridge on the Gem, from your photos, looks identical to the NCL Pearl. We really got a kick out of the bridge floors on each side of the bridge with the glass floors looking down into the water.
As for the Garden Villa, he had the Vista Garden Villa on the NCL Star in November 2008. It was fantastic, and pure luxury. While we had 4 people occupying the two master suites, there is certainly room for 6 to enjoy the huge space. The middle penthouse suite of the Garden Villa was beautiful also. We had the rear master suite, and on the last day of our cruise when arriving in port, L.A. one of the large window panes in our bath shattered. It really scared me, as I was the one in the bath at the time.
It was nice to read your post to hear that others have enjoyed the special luxury of the bridge tour and Horizon Garden Villa.
On our last cruise NCL Star Nov 2008, Mary and I also got a private tour of the galley with Peter Costa the Executive Chef of the NCL Star. That also was extemely interesting and gave us a good a idea of the extremely organzied operation that a cruise ship must go thru in order to serve so many meals to so many passengers.
It is the special treatment like you and we have received that makes a cruise so special. All of our cruises on NCL have been outstanding, and it it these reasons we continue to go back to NCL.
Are you regular guests on NCL?
My wife just informed tonight that she booked the NCL Sky for March 2008.....can't wait for that one. The will also do the NCL Star again in Nov 2009 (Panama Canal) from L.A. to Miami for 13 days with some great ports of call. That should be fun.
Sure would like to hear more about your extordinary NCL Gem cruise.
We also love NCL. We are going on the Dawn June 7, 09 out of NYC. We live in NJ and Queens, NY, so we love sailing out of NYC. It is so easy for us. We will have about 22 people going in June. Both Garden Villas, Penthouse, Owners Suite, and a couple of Mini Suites are booked. Can't wait for this one.
Here are som more Pics of the Gem from 2 weeks ago> http://picasaweb.google.com/1dcpolet...eat=directlink
Dennis - We did the Dawn to Bermuda in Oct and had a full fledged 1st class ball! We have done several cruises on her and she is keeping her ambiance quite nicely! She is a favorite of ours,in the Fall we are booked to do the Jewel out of NYC for a 15 day adventure if my gal's chemo goes well!
Glad to hear you rebooked sooo fast! Happy New Year and................................
Thank you Billy and also a Happy New Year to you and everyone out there. The Dawn is also our favorite. This will be our 4th trip to Bermuda on Her. Do you know if Hugo is still the Hotel Mgr.? He is one special guy. Although we just had Prem on the Gem\, and he was also excellent. Talk to you soon.
dcpolet - We agree, Prem is an excellent person,we cruised on the Gem in January and enjoyed Prem's attentions immensely. We did not see Hugo on the Gem at the end of October,we did make friends with Hal Broomes the Executive Housekeeper - another 1st class NCL officer!
