NCL Fees and Taxes

As I have reviewed various cruises and cruiselines via the net-I have found that when NCL cruises are compared to other ships on the same itinerary-Invariably NCL charges by far the highest Fees and Taxes! Can anyone explain why they seem to be so far out in left field?

In the Houston/Galveston market next October >>

Norwegian Dream
Ports visited are Houston, Progreso, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Belize City. (Note extra port)
Cruise Taxes and Fees: $60.69 (per person)

Carnival Conquest
Ports visited are Galveston Montego Bay, George Town, and Cozumel
Cruise Taxes and Fees: $36.10 (per person)

Rhapsody of the Seas
Ports visited are Galveston, Key West, George Town, and Cozumel
Cruise Taxes and Fees: $38.67 (per person)

So, you're right, NCL does charge more.
But then again, NCL usually goes to more ports.
Even Carnival and Royal Caribbean charge different taxes and fees mainly because they go to different ports.
The only port in common for all three ships is Cozumel.

Let's see what the others would be if we added an extra port, assuming the same tax and fee rates for the extra port:
Note 4/3=1.33
$36.10 x 1.33 = $48.01
$38.67 x 1.33 = $51.43

How much more expensive is it?
$60.69 - $48.01 = $12.68
$60.69 - $51.43 = $9.26

I wouldn't be crying over that, about the price of two drinks. Much ado over nothing!

Ron-I'm complaining about the fees and taxes when departing NYC

I believe the tonnage of the ship and number of passengers is part of what goes into figuring the fees and taxes. Thus the difference among different cruise lines and ships.
