TB & the POA

thought forum members would be interested in the following that seems to have come from KITV the Hawaii channel.It seems a crew member who left the POA on may 22nd was tested positive for TB. Now from what I understand they have found 21 crew that have also tested positive.
My understanding is that the officials say that the strain of TB is not contagious.You may have a positive skin test but that does not mean you are infectious and that is ,I believe the situation of the 21 crew who although tested positive are not infectious to other people.

On the other hand, I understand a representative of watchdog Enviro Watch says the health dept is covering up the TB outbreak to protect the tourist industry.
I understand that they will retest 200 crew members on monday.
Best to be safe than sorry eh !

As regards sailing on the POA , I think the health officals are probably right and there will be no worries for cruisers but it just makes you think doesn't it...how do we know if the stranger on the table we are eating at has some hidden virus that is contagious ?

Well, isn't that true everywnere? MacDonalds, Chili's, any restaurant? Might as well stay home to dine. But then again, unless you grow and slaughter all your food, you could catch something at the local supermarket.

Actually, eating at home may be more hazardous than eating out. Most home kitchens would fail a standard health and safety inspection.

The sponge or "dish rag" as we call it in the south would get a (D) on the door for a home inspection for sure.
