Can anyone tell me if purchasing Roma Passes at the train station in Rome usually requires a long wait in line or am I better off pre purchasing online and doing a pick up. Online purchases for the passes require wont let you print them and...if I do is there a pre purchase pick up area so not to have to wait in the standard line anyway?

I assume you are referring to buying train tickets? If so, there are lines if you want to purchase them from a person. But the automated ticket machine are very easy to use and you can set them to "English" by clicking on the little British flag icon. If you know where you want to go it is quite easy. See ftroute's guide to travel by train in Italy for very detailed instructions.

Hi Jim, I prepurchased train tickets and recieved them by mail for Rome. I was now looking into Roma Passes that include the public transportation, two museum entrances and discounts throughout Rome. These cannot be sent in the mail nor downloaded. They instruct you to pick them up at a selected station. I was just wondering if they can easily be purchased there on the spot without waiting in long lines or am I better off ordering on line and finding the pick up area? I am just looking to save time where I can being time is very valuable in this port.

Kmathi,
to my knowledge you can buy these tickets at the newspaper kiosk at the harbour in Civitavecchia.

You can simply buy the train return tickets to Rome including the underground for 9 Euros or including the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus tour for 22 Euros at the counter in Civitavecchia main station. The railway station is a short 10 minutes walk away from the harbour shuttle bus station. It took us 5 minutes to get the tickets. And it is recommended to take the train only to Roma St. Pietro. So you will be one of the first visitors in the Vaticane and save some time.
