In the continuing changes due to Hurricane Katrina, I received this information in a press release from NCL:
Norwegian Sun will sail from Houston instead of New Orleans October 16, 2005 through January 8, 2006 (port calls remain the same -- Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Belize City and Roatan -- but in a different order). The ship will then reposition to Miami where it will sail one four-day cruise to the Bahamas on January 17, 2006, and a series of alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries thereafter; because of the timing of the repositioning, Norwegian Sun's January 15, 2006 sailing has been canceled.
Norwegian Sun guests booked as of September 1, 2005 who choose one of the revised sailings from Houston or Miami will receive a $50 per-person onboard credit ($100 maximum per cabin); those booked on Norwegian Sun's canceled January 15 sailing can choose a Norwegian Dream sailing out of Houston or a Norwegian Sun sailing out of Houston or Miami, and will receive $50 per-person onboard credit.
Passengers booked on Norwegian Sun beginning January 21, 2006 can choose an itinerary out of Miami, or transfer to Norwegian Dream out of Houston (Norwegian Dream's itinerary features calls into Cozumel, Roatan, Belize City and Cancun).
Guests who have booked air transportation through NCL's Air/Sea program will receive assistance in rebooking flights to or from Houston and Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. All guests who elect not to sail may cancel with no penalty through September 30, 2005.
I am booked on the Nov. 27 sailing of the Sun. We chose that ship primarily because the New Orleans port is only a 4-5 hour drive from our house. I don't know if we will be up for driving all the way to Houston, and I really wasn't wanting to pay for airfare. Do you know if they offer a full refund if you decide not to go? I did buy trip insurance(the day before the hurricane hit), but my parents are going also, and they don't have insurance.
Thanks
