Hi,
I am taking my first cruise with NCL and just wanted any info that anybody had to off my husband and me with leaving out of New Orleans. We will take any positive and negative feed backs. I like to be prepared for everything so that our trip will go smoothly but I know everything will not go perfect. If anybody is wondering we are leaving 1/23/07 from New Orleans on a 5 day western carribean cruise to cozumel and costa maya mexico. If you are leaving on the same cruise we hope to meet you while we are sailing.
Thanks

MyHolly-

Can't say that I have ever cruised out of N.O., but you may get more response posting this in the Ports and Hotels section and other cruise ships are cruising from NO and more people will see it there (Not everyone reads the NCL section) Hopefully someone has been on a cruise out of there since they started cruising from the port again. It may be different now than before. Its wise to ask if someone has LATELY cruised from NO.

I don't believe anyone is sailing out of New Orleans yet. In mid October they will start. I sailed twice out of New Orleans before Katrina. The cruise port was right by the River Walk. It was fun to fly in a day early and explore New Orleans. I don't know what it will be like now. From what I understand the French Quarter is pretty well up and running. It will take bout 8 hours to go from New Orleans down the Mississippi to the Gulf.

Can you be a little more specific about the type of information you want? I live in Louisiana and pass the port from time to time. I've also cruised from N.O. several times.

They are in the process of building a new terminal building with plenty of parking. I received an email from the Port management informing me it will be open for the first cruise since Katrina which is scheduled to depart on Oct. 15. This will be a HUGE improvement to N.O. departures.

You will enjoy sailing down the river.

I lived in Gretna for 6 years. Are they replacing the terminal by the riverwalk or are they building a new one elsewhere? We are leaving N.O. in April and I want to make sure I know where I am driving to (HP.Long vs. CCC, etc.)

The new terminal is where the old parking lot was for the old terminal...right next door. It is like an addition to the old terminal.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I have checked the ports in N.O. and the NCL Sun Terminal is Julia Street Terminal 2.
